You asked for a comment and so here it is...I love this type of upload...this is where I live and what I love to photograph most..trees are a special fave of mine and light and shadow to me are what photography is all about. And in my mind you have done a wonderful job.

As to your duo? If you are talking about the shades of difference between the texture of the tree and the needles, I could, but won't wax rhapsodic.

If you are talking about the difference between the tree and the vehicle seen through the branches...well, that's not my thing at all.

I will enjoy the tree :)

G'day Ally,
It was the title that caught my eye, I couldn't work out what it referred to in the thumbnail version of the photo so I went for the full scale shot.
I think the subject is worthy, the contrast between those smooth spiky pine needles and that deliciously rough bark, colour contrast as well. It's well composed, with the bark being roughly one third of the image and the needles most of the rest, nice balance. If you wanted to improve it - consider *depth of field* so that everything from foreground to subject is sharp, the contrast between the darkest part of the bark and the most sunbright tips of the needles is a touch too great, the shadow is not so much a problem in my eyes but the colour is a bit faded on the needle tips. OH, the slant is good, the way the "none needles" section thru the middle of the image runs from high on the left to lower on the right. I always think slants and angles are much more interesting than squares. :) But you know how it is, art, everyone has their own opinion.
Peace,
Mikel.
