While watering my lilies of the valley, this grateful creature left his hiding place to come and take a drink. I was sure he'd be gone by the time I returned with my camera. Not only was he still there, he seemed to enjoy his new career as a model. Then I got to wondering - what does it mean when they shake their tail a lot? When I got too close, he circled around me and then landed again right where he had been. Was I about to be stung? - Patty

Cool shot, Patti! I watched a yellow jacket getting a drink off a leaf on my dwarf lemon tree but I wasn't able to get a very good shot of it. And yes, I think you were about to get stung. Although I've got all kinds of bees in my herb garden all the time and they've gotten used to me coming around them every once in awhile. I haven't gotten stung yet.

Phew !!! like jswgpb said here above LOL ! i leave those wasps alone to.
I remember one time, that i got one straight into my helmet, when driving, what made matters worse was that i had my sunglasses on, wich did not alow me to get my helmet of very quick, the sting realy hurted for about 2,5 hours.
Enought about me, but about your new wallpaper, well done well done.. so sharp that you can even count the little water droplets. a well made adition to the insects walls here.

What a great wallpaper. I don't like being around these guys, but when I see them up close like this, I have a great deal of respect for their design.

An incredible shot Patty ... crisp & clear. I'm glad you were brave enough to take the bee's pic ... I'd be high-tailing it out of there. LOL. Excellent work.

Great macro Patty ... just SUPER!. The tail shaking comes from listening to The Beetles on his I-Pod. As for his circling you ... he was trying to pinpoint where all that "Sweetness" was emanating from ... ( Have I got a line or what ? ... chalk one up for Muggsy) :o)

A lovely close-up image. With the temps in the Tulsa area lately, I know how he feels. A cool drink is very refreshing. Well done.
