It's magnificant Patty. Well done and I can't believe it's the first. You are certainly an artist. He's crystal clear, the composition is lovely with that lovely flower in the background and the lighting is perfection. Excellent post and thanks for sharing him. Congrats on the first :)

Do me a favor Patty ... DON'T MAKE THIS YOUR LAST! Simply gorgeous to look at. A beautiful butterfly ... lovely flower and a soft blurred background to set it off. Great post.
I agree totally with Muggsy Patty. Don't let this be your last. Absolutely magnificent capture . I really like how the flowers match this beauty.Your blurred background reminds me of rays of sunshine. A+.
This is so perfect! Color and clarity are amazing. I like the comp too and the way the flower and the butterfly are so perfectly color co-ordinated. It makes a lovely desktop.
Thank you Patty!
I like your new avitar! It's nice to see the person behind the art.

Why does everyone have such a difficult time giving a frank appraisal?? This is an excellent first effort, but it's not an "A+" and it's not "crystal clear". C'mon! Patty's a big girl and I'm sure she can take it. These butterflies are hard as heck to capture, as anyone knows who's tried. In this case, because she wasn't directly behind it, the right wing is in a slightly different plane than the left wing, so it's a bit blurry. And it would have been nice to get the butterfly and that little patch of flowers more properly centered. There, was that so difficult? Is Patty upset because I pointed out two areas that could have been improved? I'll bet she isn't.

Patty, you captured this butterfly perfectly. Beautiful colors & amazing detail. I have been trying to get a shot of a butterfly for years & years, but right when I get ready to snap they flutter off. I guess my butterflies are camera shy. Excellent work.
hi Patty! great to see your pic up there! I love seeing all these faces added as icons - now I can see who I am talking to! :) and fantastic capture of the monarch butterfly! you did great with this one! Patti

Thanks everyone - I appreciate your comments. I'm not sure about this butterfly photo thing; not sure I have the patience! But, I usually try something once - thanks again! - Patty

Well, Patty, your first one is a lollapalouza! I think that means great! It is truly great! So clear, coloration perfect, great dof. Magnifico and I love your pretty face, btw!
Never rebuke while you’re still indignant about a fault committed—wait until the next day, or even longer. Then calmly, and with a purer intention, make your reprimand. You’ll gain more by a friendly word than by a three-hour quarrel.

Great first capture of this butterfly, They are so hard to get as they don't sit still for long, looking forward to more. Love the green background as well.
Anything that excites me for any reason, I will photograph; not searching for unusual subject matter, but making the commonplace unusual.
