Outstanding Patty. What a beautiful capture and he stayed for you perfectly. Great clarity and color and I like the framing as well. Outstanding post. Thanks for sharing him my friend, it's perfection yet again.

Wow! What a gorgeous butterfly Patty! Outstanding capture of it too! Those colors on him are awesome! Excellent shot..even I couldn't clone this beauty out! ;-)
Thanks for starting my day off with a smile Patty. Ah, the powers of persuasion. So glad it listened for you to be able to take this beautiful photo. Your framing compliments it very well.
Be careful, Patty, or you might just get hooked on butterfly hunting! (For anyone who's wondering, this lovely creature is an Eastern Black Swallowtail.)

Beautiful capture of a beautiful butterfly. Did you take this on free hand or with a tripod. I saw in the exif that you use 300mm. If so you did a fantastic work. Even if you use a tripod it is fantastic :))
Aint it great, when yer trying to foto one o' these!...stumblin and grunting, over brambles nettles and small bushes!...lots of fun eh!......?.........So glad you got this little beauty..full on and square!....terrific capture and very nice close-up..........
First you plead for them to "Land" ... then you plead for them to "Stay" ... then being a Caedes nut you ask it nicely to "stop opening and closing it's beautiful wings" and then CLICK ... Nothing to it ... RIGHT ? Yeah RIGHT ! :o) Great capture of this beautiful jewel ... Patty ... even if it was a piece of cake. Did I hear you say " Oh John ... SHUT UP !!!? Sheesh ... watta grouch.
Beautiful capture. The framing really adds a lot and brings out the blue in the little guy's wings. The butterflies in CA are not nearly so interesting.
Thanks to all who comment on pictures in my gallery. Please accept my apologies if I am unable to thank you each time, and please don't feel obligated to thank me for my comments.
Thanks, everyone! And Mariana, this was taken on a tripod, using a remote switch, me standing away from the camera so I couldn't shake it if I tried, holding my breath, then gently touching the switch!! This is too much WORK! :)) I was inches away and he only flapped his wings once that I saw. I was inside a Butterfly Exhibit at my local zoo. And no John, I wouldn't say that to you - you're a dear!
Oh what a lovely swallowtail. They don't appear to be as common as the yellow ones. He actually remained in front of your tripod? Wow, there must have been some treat there that he was interested in. Very lovely shot.
Never rebuke while you’re still indignant about a fault committed—wait until the next day, or even longer. Then calmly, and with a purer intention, make your reprimand. You’ll gain more by a friendly word than by a three-hour quarrel.

Patty, you captured this butterfly in the most perfect pose. The framing sets off the colors of the butterfly beautifully. Excellent shot & congratulations.
You lucky you , if they see me coming they already fly away, must be your pleading (lol)
It's a great clear capture with perfect detail, very well done.

Congratulations Patty! What a cracker! I have never seen such a butterfly, not in Europe... Outstanding capture. I must admit you are professional: tripod, remote switch... The result is definitely great.

Oh how nice is this ... Congrats on this .... So lucky to have a butterfly house at the zoo ..We have a butterfly conservatory in Niagra Falls ..One of these days I'm making a trip there
I think butterflies are one of the most beautiful of God's creation! So many different and amazing varieties. I'm so glad this one stayed for you to capture and share with us. I love the framing, too.
