Neeeat. At first I thought you blurred the left side but when I looked at it up close it's seems to actually be three different walls at different distances. :-)
It was actually one wall at the back of a train station ... with three different facings. The second wall section (in focus) is set back about 3' from the first. The third wall about 3' further again. It was the angle of the shot that brings them closer together. Shot old-school.
Have you been watching Sesame Street? Well this is not a rerun for wee ones but a fine experiment in depth of field Rob. Would have liked to see you setting this shot up. Now we beg for a better explanation of the technique you used to get this shot. Great work:-) Whoops, he already has;-) Oh, another edit, my wife says its messed up and she loves it too!
I really enjoy this piece. DOF is an interesting effect and works great on desktops. Again i like your subtle blured border work..but i do find the subject matter a bit plain.. now if you did this with some castle walls .i've tried this my self (Storm Ruin) and i found that actually creating a false DOF helps with my image manipulations so its good to see work with real DOF that i can use research my own pseudo photorealistic DOF!
The subject ...particularly the sign made of pressure treated wood, was MOST disappointing on the surface but ends up providing juxtaposition in the photo. Old masonry with modern *cough* woodwork.
What struck me as interesting in the scene were the shapes, colors and irregular brickwork. The leading wall is actually a curve, the edge of which is about in the center of the image. The building was incredibly ornate BUT for this goofy sign.
I couldn't resist the photo...so I didn't borrow it ...I took it! Shhh .. ◊click◊
