Where I live we have lots of different butterflies. The Peacock butterfly you can see everywhere. They are Beautiful with the blue "Eyes" on the wings. Why they often sit on the dirtroads, like this one, I don`t know. Perhaps anyone here knows?

A beautiful butterfly and photographed nicely Susanne. Even though your background is busy, the butterfly stands out because of its vivid coloring. Nice capture.

I think that butterfly has stopped to rest on that dirt road because of all the different stones embedded in it. It probably thinks the road is as pretty as it's wings are. Beautiful shot, Susanne.

I don't see this type of butterfly in my area, but have seen other types sit on dirtroads. I'm not sure of the reason why either. Excellent detail on this beautiful butterfly & the rocky background makes a great textured background. Nicely captured, Susanne.

Susanne, the answer on your question is quite simple. When people are 'on the road' for a long distance, they got tired. To rest somewhat they can use a (drive-in) restaurant. The same with butterflies, but with only one difference: there are no suitable restaurants for them and if they had them, they couldn't afford the money, so they are 'forced' to 'hit the road', lol. I was just kidding. I'm not kidding by saying that I like your fine post!

Lovely colourful photography with superb composition and very nice texture in the path and I must say one colourful path as well.Plus nice detail and light in this photo as well.My garden is full of this love butterflies in the late spring and all summer too.
