This was my first attempt at this...you would never guess how many shots I took to capture this! I thought it was a nice addition with the stars shinning in the clear sky!

Yes, lightning is very difficult and you did capture it. The quality is lacking and I might know what it is that caused it. Here I go,lol I realize you have to act fast for lightning but the best way to do is by setting your camera to motion setting if your camera has that setting if not go to your local camera shop or do some research on the good ole internet to find what you need to set your camera to. Or you may had your resolution set to small and now with you enlarging it, it pixelated your photo. Hence the grainy effect in your photo. Very nice attempt though.

I have never gotten a shot like this yet. It is my guess, that you used an ISO setting of 400 or higher, thus the noise. It's entirely possible that with a lower ISO setting, you may not have gotten the shot at all. Sometimes you have to sacrifice top quality just to get a shot. I will probably never get a shot like this, because with my luck, the lightening would take priority over trees and other such objects, and strike my camera. LOL.

I've spent years trying to get a shot of lightening and I haven't had any luck. Because you obviously took all the luck!
Grats hon! And know you have made one Kansas girl very jealous!

Out of the frying pan into the fire eh! Wonderful first attempt. Love the addition of the clear skies beyond and the changing light in the clouds. I wouldn't know where to begin...I hope you take more of the FL skies. Thank you for sharing it.

Besides the noise and lower quality....This is an awesome shot! If you ran it through Photo Shop (noise reduction) and played with it a bit you could really make this one stand out! Ive tried several times to capture lighting but...no luck for me either! They do make gadgets for cameras that fire automatically when it picks up lightning...
