I used the Caedes spider provided by Piner. I will probably make some other colors and while doing so will try to refine some of the glass bits, especially the writing. It didn't look that blobby until I set it as my background.

If we had emoticons, you'd see one here clapping. Nice work Sam, on my 8x6 screen everything shows up beautifully. The silver is nice & metallic & has a gorgeous sheen to it, while the maroon is a perfect contrast. And no problem with the text that I can see ! Wonderful job !!

I haven't seen your blue rendition but I love this one. Those refinement concerns you mention aren't coming across on my computer. I looked at your work from different angles and different distances and it's all good. The one thing that did seem to draw my attention (and it may be purposeful on your part) is that those lines extending outward from Caedes.net cross over the wonderful texturing in the background. It doesn't mar the overall photo... I just notice it.
