it never ceases to amaze me how these little critters are put together and can still fly. The detail in the wings is marvelous. Actually, it's captivating. Excellent work.

Absolutely stunning. I believe this is THE best angle and capture I've seen thus far of a dragonfly, my favorite insect. Thanks so much for sharing it and going straight to my favorites.

A great portrait in an unusual pose. Nice one Sam. I love the golden costa [leading edge of the wings] and face. I'm a tad jealous too as all our dragonflies have finished for the year in the UK. Presumably you get them all year or are they still seasonal [but in reverse of course!] It looks like one of the Gomphids but as you have so many more species than we do I wouldn't know where to start. There is an Australian field guide coming out soon - might get a copy out of interest.
Great image 10/10
Cheers,
Steve.

Amazing are these little dragons - metallic gold, who could imagine such colors for the insect. The clarity is right there where I would expect. Yes, and diagonal lines make the capture much more dramatic and interesting. Congratulations.

Wow, this looks like a helicopter ready to take off!! Good job with the macro work on this insect. Good detailing and the color is superb. I think the composition is what makes this dragonfly image a cut above others.....very unique in your presentation. You must take one super cool shot of a BIG animal for me on your trip.......I will hold my breath and wait for your return ;=)
