I was excited to spot some of these birds at the beach near where I am currently living. Hopefully I will get a chance to take some more before I leave at the end of this month.

More images and prints available in my Deviant art and Redbubble galleries.

Wonderful colours on this little guy/girl? Do they actually eat bees? That's gotta hurt:) Thanks for the share.

I'd be excited to see one of these too! What splendid colors they are made of and how wonderful that you captured one for us. Summer at the beach. How great is that? lol

Wow ... you live near a beach. Beautiful colors on this bird ... I can see why they call it a Rainbow Bee Eater. Excellent capture Sam. :-)

Best wide-angle lens? Two steps backward. Look for the 'ah-ha'. Ernest Haas

Hi Sam! *waves*...neat capture of this new feathered friend of yours! Love the colors. How did this bird get it's name? the bare branches do a great job of showing off the DOF as well as the beauty of this bird. Good detail for shooting from as far away as you did. Focus is a bit soft but in this case, it makes the bird look even more lovable!
Thanks for sharing this with me :=)

That is one gorgeous bird beautifully shot. Love the detail and colors, and the framing by the twigs.

The focus is excellent.
I'm looking for the new 120-400 mm Sigma lens. Maybe next year...
Which lens here?

Super duper colorings and markings once again Sam I Am!!

Perhaps a crop 'n' chop to lose some of the distracting backdrop?? Maybe not, I dunno!! Luv this little fella!! I don't see the "detail" Pierre sees, but, that may be the scotch!!??

Why do the pictures come out square when the lens is round??

I guess he didn't mention the "detail" more so the DOF, which is nice all be it still distracting. Low level lighting seems to have lost some of the detail?? Correct?? I still wanna squeeze the poop outta this cutie!! Amazing find friend!!

What a beautiful little bird. I know you have many lovely birds in Aussie land...it's so nice you were able to get such a wonderful photo of him. I'm so sorry I've not seen this photo before. His colours are just magnificent. Thank you. Verena
