This was the sight that greeted us as we came to the corner at the end of Lake Wanaka. Lake Hawea is the one in front of this mountain which, going by the map, is called Metina. It was a pretty awesome sight for someone who has never really seen a "proper" mountain before; Australia is much older geologically than New Zealand so all our mountains are very old and have spread themselves out over a wide area with gradually sloping sides; nothing as dramatic as this.
