This was a spontaneous experiment... I was painting the ceiling and as I returned from replenishing the brush I was struck by the way the light fell on the stool... I also placed the brush artistically upon it to try to make the scene more interesting ;-)

I really don't know if this works or not... perhaps the cropping isn't quite right. I tried to make it look like a "still life" painting but did it work? Or does it just look like a stool stuck in a hall way...

Would have cropped a tad tighter, but hey who am I to say, at the end of the day if you are happy with the image that is the main thing. The beauty of photography is we can experiment. I like this image it is creative and shows imagination. Well done

I like the patterns in the floor and wall and the angle of the stool and lighting. Very interesting shot.

I would have used a roller, but I would rather not paint at all. I hate doing that. Too much preparation and clean up. You have a great eye for an artistic picture. I love the lighting, and the position of the stool, but the smell of the paint is starting to get to me. LOL.

Nope, it doesn't just look like a stool and paint brush to me...the simplicity of the composition, lighting, and shadows make it a good study for a still life...'perhaps' I might have cropped in a bit more on the right side to further simplify it but not on the left or foreground as I rather like the darkness that gradually gathers the light...a good eye for the spontaneous.

Hi Sam Perfect shot but I think the can of paint might have added to the composition what makes the picture is the shadow nicely done.

The reason why the sunsets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB

What's throwing it off for me is what my teacher would have called "the batman angle" - I was fond of playing with those angles too, but eventually came to realize that almost universally nobody else ever saw them the way I did - unless the there was something else in the shot that made it reasonable for the rest to be tilted.

When I rotate this in my head and square it off so the back trim is level, the shot works for me as a study of shadow and light and a picture of a moment in time.

P.S. The Batman Angle also works when it's severe enough not to look like it *could* be accidental. lol.
