The Cahaba River and its tributary Buck Creek run through Helena Alabama. Buck Creek is dammed upstream of Alabama Highway 261 in the Old Town area to form Lake Davidson which was used for recreation and water wheel power at the turn of the 20th century. In 1856, this dam was built at the same time as a rolling mill. This rolling mill would produce arms for the Confederacy and would later be destroyed by Union raiders at the end of the Civil War. This is my first attempt at playing with my shutter speed and using a cooling filter. I hope you all enjoy and as always, comments are always welcome.

Paul this Image is very unusual.
I've never seen a Dam in which you could see through.
Where is the water coming from ?

Looks like a cement wall covered with vegetation. This makes for a see through effect. I really like it. I'm just guessing as to what I see. Great post Paul and the composition and coloring are really good. Very nice post.

I am a little confused too. It almost looks like glass on the other side, but then where WOULD the water be coming from? I can't wait to hear an explanation. Any way, it's a great picture, and the cooling filter looks good too. Nice work.

What you see beneath the waterfall is a concrete dam. On the dam, behind the water is moss growing on the concrete. I hope that "clears" things up a bit.

I like the look of the log as if it is fixing to flow over the dam. I love the water it is percect. The only water shots I have gotten to take was of a small creek. You did real well with this shot and the other dam picture. I really like the angle. Keep up the good work.

Why do you have to "put your two cents in"... but it's only a "penny for your thoughts"? Where's that extra penny going to?

Brilliant work, especially for a first attempt. I love the perspective you capture this from, it really increases the sense of drama, nice work.
