If this is your first time doing self portraits, you are doing a decent job. For one, the idea is unique and well thought out. Most who use mirrors use lage ones and you can see the camera in the picture. But you used a small compact type mirror that non only hides the camera, but aso provides a nice contrast of textures. Also you have a nice range of lighting contrasts as well that complement each other nicely.
I also like how the focus contrasts as well. You have the nice, clear sharpness of the reflection, the slightly out of focus mirror, and then the blur of the background. It gives it depth. Very nicely done! Keep it up!!
P.S. if you get a chance, take a look at my gallery. Any comments, criticisms, advice, etc. on any specific pics would be greatly welcome! Hope you have an awesome day!
Very cool....I'm trying to think of a good idea for a self portrait since a lot of people have them in their galleries.....I'm still thinking though...LOL
Good idea! If you can, take it into Photoshop and play around with the levels of value, warms and cools too. Nest time, you might try adding something on that right side so that the viewer's eye has something more to look at and help the eye flow.
