Thank you all. I'm sorry, Mayne, but I don't know what sort of urchins they are: they must be fairly common in Cornish waters as we quite often see this kind of shell for sale. Next time I see some I'll ask for you ;-)
Mayne, I assume you realize this is not what the urchins would look like when they were alive... this is what is left after all the spines have fallen off... as far as I know all sea urchins look pretty much like this when they wash up on the beach, except the colors can be different... I could be wrong though.
