Scanning old negatives to HD I found this one from a few years ago that I thought I'd share with you. A barn owl in flight....

You must have been really on the ball to catch this one in flight. Great job.

I love the color on his feathers. Agree with the others, this is very hard to capture.

Thank you all very much. Spook was a "tame" barn owl who lived at a Bird of Prey centre and appeared in several television programs and films. It was a lot easier to get this shot of him at one of his flying demonstrations than it would be with a wild owl!

It is a tad grainy, but I think that makes it all the more "you are there-ish". Would it not be lovely to see the entire series of shots from which you selected this? Perhaps set out as a tryptich (did I spell that correctly?) Anyhow I love this photo and I thank you.

Thank you all. Unfortunately this wasn't from a series of shots, dusa, it was just a fortunate one-off....

what a capture.. one word: magnificent! as i said in one post before, you DO have a sixth sense about these things, don't you? :)))
it is a bit blurry (of course, who could make a clear shot...), but the texture of his beautiful feathers is visible.. i think it's a breathtaking image because of its dynamic look.. after all, it's an ancient human dream to fly as free as a bird.. thank you for sharing this image with us.. it looks like dreams came true ;)

Thats not Spock! Oh, spook, nvm. Nice finger pressing button technique. Maybe some sharpening in photoshop [infranview, etc] might make it less blurry..but then you'll get the cheesy sharpened look.
