Good capture and the sepia tones give it a nice feel. :c)

The work of art may have a moral effect, but to demand moral purpose from an artist is to make him ruin his work. (Johann Wolfgang von Goethe - 1832)

Well done, Simon. Great choice of lens and hue to create the sense of isolation and bleakness.

Thank you all :-) These old ruins are one of my favourite subjects (and there's hundreds to choose from!) so I may post some more one day....

I'm sure she lived somewhere else, but as soon as I saw this I thought of Charlotte Bronte and Wuthering heights...

Thanks all :-) You're right, mum42, Charlotte Bronte was quite a long way from here but I can see what you mean about a Wuthering Heights feel to it...

Thanks Pierre and Darryl. I'm particularly pleased with the way the detail in the stonework came out in this one :-)

Thanks, silkshatter - "ancient beauty" is very much how I see these old buildings, so I'm pleased you can see that in the picture :-)

Very nice shot. I really like the softness in contrast and the sepia-like tone. The sky looks almost as if it is photoshopped in to me. Or is that my imagination? If not then you did a very, very nice job in framing the picture from a low viewpoint to hide all surrounding landscape. Oh, and did you do any perspective correction or use an PC lens? Just wondering...

Thank you both. The only corrections were brightness/contrast, and unsharp mask, although I did have to clone out a bit of graffiti. The landscape drops away behind the building making the framing easier. Thanks again :-)
