On the Discussion Board "Free and open-source softwares" Darryl (Mayne) recommended a plug-in called Virtual Photographer. I downloaded it yesterday. Today I took a rather dull photo of a faded, starting-to-rot flower. (I didn't realise how manky it looked 'til I saw the pic full-screen!). Put the two together, and I can heartily endorse Darryl's recommendation.....

This is luxurious looking, who would have thought it was a dying flower.
Looks like that is a really cool plug-in.

This looks like it is made of gold, and you thought it was dying. Nice work.

Once upon a barren moor there dwelt a bear as well boar. The bear could not bear the boar that was a bore, nor the boar the bear, a bore as well. Alas the bear could bear no more the boar that bored him on the barren moor, and thus one morn he bored the boar more than before, so that the boar would bore the bear no more.

As with any software, it's only made to enhance the qualities already in the photo. You still need a good sharp photo and a well composed shot to start with which you already had. I love the enhancement, Si.

It adds new meaning to the term "gold leaf." Well done!

You know, usually I don't like images where the background is out of focus, but you really got something going on here. The flower actually does look gilt. The warm tones always add something to an imge too.

Great shot. My only suggestion would be to have cloned over the blurred stem on the low center, it just seems to grab my eye. Great job though, really looks like it was spraypainted gold.

Thanks again. I've played around with the program a little more, but not persuaded it to do anything alse as dramatic yet. But I've got some more ideas in mind....
