Kani konna(Casia fistula) - the state flower of Kerala, India. Found in moderate rainfall area. The flower is used as a ritual to offer lord guruvayurappan or Krishna in all the houses of Keralaites on the first day of the month of Medam - New year of Keralaites(Middle of the month of April)decorated with new vegitables, gold soverings and cash infront of lord krishna with light decoration. The family members will be waking up by their first sight to the decorated items so that the new year will be of full of prosperity and harmony.
