I think you've got good ideas for these shots but your camera is not helping you out at all. I recommend, if you can, to invest in a better one, you'll see it's worth it.

I agree with panda on this one. Shooting birds cames as close to "mission impossible" unless you have dslr camera and good lense. I made lots of bird shots with my 8x zoom camera and needeles to say that I only got more and more frustrated thinking how it could have been a great pic if only I have dslr... sooo now I am saving my money to buy one... some day. If you like taking pix of birds (and other wild animals), it's definitely worth it.
