Beauty of a hood ornament well taken. I first thought the title was "In the Hood" and that you were taking a photo with some of the members of your street gang. The vignetting is a nice touch. Excellent detail with bits of chrome missing.
Carol, he must be angry, because he has a bloodshot head. Hope you've warned him for the danger of a high blood pressure, lol. Seen and captured very well.

Yes, it was modeled after Chief Pontiac. Pontiac, or Obwandiyag (c. 1720, April 20, 1769), was an Odawa war chief who became noted for his role in Pontiac's War (1763 to 1766), an American Indian struggle against British military occupation of the Great Lakes region and named for him. For a major event in this war, masterminded by Pontiac, follow this link to a deadly Lacrosse game at Fort Michilimackinac, located today at the very tip of Michigan's southern peninsula, under and just to the west of the Big Mac bridge. We visited the site in July of 2001. We also visited a place named after Pontiac just north of St. Ignace, at the southern point of the northern peninsula, 'Pontiac's Lookout" (or Castle Rock). This is a high point that allowed his warriors to see British and French ships coming from a long way off across Lake Huron and skedaddle or pull some mischief long before they arrived (of course there was no bridge up there so the Odawa Indians had to climb that lose pile of stone). The view from the top is amazing, despite the tacky Paul Bunyan and Blue Ox statue at the base and the "rubber tomahawk" store you have to go through to get to the path up the tower. If you're ever in that area, I recommend the view.
