what about changing the background color? could it be that the white just isn't providing enough contrast?

Agree with third_eye, if you want it to stand out a bit more you need to change the BG color. Blue would work well as it contrasts with yellow/gold quite effectively, but I guess white is a color you might want to associate with wedding rings so maybe a creme color would be better.
