It was a full on thunderstorm when we got to the Grand Canyon, the rest of the family wanted to stay at the hotel and rest from the long trip. I didn't drive all day to end up sitting in a room watching TV so I drove to the rim of the canyon. As soon as I arrived, the rain stopped, the skies opened up and there was an incredible light show as the sun sunk down to the horizon.

It looks so unreal. Was it modified in PS or is that just a miraculous colour and light composition of mother nature. If so, you must be a lucky person. It is definitely a breath-taker. You have incredible photos, I hope we can count on more of these...

The lighting looks absolutely surreal, it looks like it's being lit from the inside, with the contrasts of the light areas on the inside and dark on the edges.

Fabulous canyon shot. Too many people shoot the Grand Canyon at midday and end up with washed-out colors and no contrast. THIS is what you get if you have a good eye, great timing, perseverence and a touch of luck. Wonderful!

I can't add anything that hasn't already been said, but ditto, ditto, ditto from me. I've been there several times, but every time I go, the anticipation of getting to and peering over the rim is exactly as intense as it was the very first time I went! The Grand Canyon simply takes your breath away - it's so beautiful!
I agree with what you said about the hotel - the last time I was there, we stayed at the Bright Angel Lodge, and I spent most of the time outside taking it all in, even though it was quite chilly. Everyone else wanted to stay either in the room, at the bar, or in the restaurant and git shops.

Mere words fail to capture what this photo shows. Color and composition as phenominal. Shadows and light are near perfect but then the lord shows us his land in beauty. This is the best picture of the canyon I have seen and I want to rush back to see if I can see it that way.
