Splash and Dash

Balloon pilots like to do whats called a "splash and dash" where they lightly touch the water. I was watching him come down fairly fast and he didn't hit the burners until after he hit the water. I don't think this was intentional because he hit the water pretty hard and sunk the basket about a foot. Water was still draining out of the basket when they were 50 feet in the air.

Well at least they have the perfect way of drying out... lovely shot, although I might have considered cloning out the mud etc in the foreground.

Oh this is beautiful! The reflection of the large baloon at the front is amazing. And to see the people in it is great too. And I love the fact you can see thru the water too! Makes it all have so much "depth" hehe.. I wonder if they were all planning on landing in the water. Either way, its a great photo...something to be very proud of. I love these hot air balloons..we have them a lot here where I live in this bigtime valley..nice shot...verena

A little something? I just don't tolerate with such modesty! You either shoot out of passion or you don't shoot at all! Photography is about seeing things others can't see. --- I guess every girl goes through a photography phase. You know, horses... taking pictures of your feet. -[from Young Love and then Lost in Translation]

This is a spectacular image. The water being that still is uncanny and unfair. Water is always rippling when I wish it were still, heh
