OK...It's 6:30 in the morning, time to get high. Today is media day for the Balloon and Wine Festival where a few balloons go up taking reporters and photographers. Tomorrow the festival grounds will be pack with people and the air will be filled with hot air balloons. You can see the shadow of the balloon I'm in. It's shaped like a champagne bottle. EDIT: Temecula Balloon and Wine Festival. I think they have a Balloon and Wine festival up by Napa somewhere too.

What a great perspective to see these balloons form Chip! I love hot air balloons and your images have always been a source of eye-candy to me.
I imagine it was great to be up in the balloon so early in the morning....great time to be shooting!
Was this just an informative 'tour' type ride prior to the Festival or more of a 'hare vs hound' race?

Hi CHip! Wow, that must have been a most wonderful way to start a day!! Not only to take these gorgeous photos, but to be IN one of the balloons...how fortunate you were! I love this photo. I was in a balloon just once, and it remained on a rope, which they let go up pretty darned high..it was for us little beginners so we wouldn't freak out totally! lol..I love how you got the water and the sky in such a gorgeous bloo colours..thanx for a great desktop to make me dream by..verena

I was stationed at March Air Force Base and then stayed out there for several years, living in Riverside. I was familiar with the area at one time but I am sure I wouldn't recognize it now.
