As its name suggests, the species' most distinguishing feature is the silver-black fur running from the back of the neck to the base of the tail. The chest and under parts are white to rusty-white, whereas the rest of the body ranges from reddish brown to ginger. They usually live together in pairs that last for life, but often hunt in packs to catch larger prey such as impala and antelope. They are very territorial; each pair dominates a permanent territory. They are mainly nocturnal, come out in the day occasionally. Found this little buddy in the Kruger National Park, South Africa. Hope you enjoy the journey with me.

OK, how much did he charge by the hour to pose for you? :-)
Magnificant animal, and such a lovely shot.

Only thing that "distracts" a bit, is the Flash in his eyes.
A little postwork, would have cleared that right up. :-)

Technically I agree with Greg, but I'm so glad you sent a pic of an animal that I wouldn't have thought to have looked up. It's one of the privileges I find of being a Caedes member and contributor. You find all these marvelous people who are experiencing life as it is around them and then they share it and you, we, us get to experience it too!!

Thanks again.

We don’t make art to show someone what something looks like. All this requires is eyes (or a lens). Art is supposed to have meaning, emotion, power, or magic. Alan & Mario "FourThirds"

Just a great shot Susan. Doesn't look too wild in this photo. I saved it in my gransons critters file. He'll love it.
