stunning textures...hauntingly familiar.. actuall its the airbrushed look it reminds me of the Sandman comic series.. very dark-gothica.. after all sepia is the new black :D
It's bits of letters that Jack the Ripper wrote to the police. He liked to call himself Mathematicus as well as Jack the Ripper. I wanted to add those to tie it all in - as well as put some of the history into it.
love the darkness! it's harsh in the contrast and thema, but I love it all the same!^^... love how you manipule the yellow (and blue tone too) in all your work... the title is very interesting, and the shapes looks a little like a blade of a knife... so, very fitting!... if the colors have been more red, you could have called it 'From Hell' too^^
you renew yourself constantly Tracy, and it's always a great pleasure to look at your piece of art!^^
Definitely very dark. Speaks of decay to me; and seems to have images in the background you can't quite make out. I think you have put across the feeling of this one exactly as you wanted ( unlike myself who seems to be having trouble saying what I mean at the moment ). I can see why it is one of your favorites... however despite the fact that I love it, as a desktop it is too scary for me! :-0
hmmmmm i like this much, i cant believe i took such a long time to comment on this, especially since i have ben eyeing this for a while, it reminds me of my 39 steps pic. love Tracy, the colours the layout & arrangement. some serious eyecandy with a feel of the film seven, kinda satisfyingly grim. wicked : {D
so glad you added the script. i was thinking as it uploaded "this looks caligraphy related" then the writing... heh nice color choices, ink blots and pointy things.
I love the colors, even though they're not normally my favorites, and the composition, the light, the texture, the "antique" feel, the autumnal feel, everything about this. 10/10 and favs.
I would not have guessed the theme from the image, I admit. I wasn't away of Jack the Ripper's use of "Mathematicus" - any relation to mathematics intended, do you know?
It does make me think of the cycle of life and death, growth, death, decay and rebirth. But that seems too natural and undisturbed an order for the theme - I'm thinking of the cycle of vegetation, say, rather than anything in the animal kingdom.
