This reminds me of those long strands of textured fibres you get in basket making kits when you're a kid. They are all woven here - or there are two weavings or...

Really curious about what is behind this. It looks like barbed wire around the inner abstract, but is the wire to keep something/somebody out or to keep them in? It makes me think of (1) prisons and (2) "gated" communities, especially since the outer colouring suggests a more natural setting than the inner colouring. In that case, it could be a reminder that by keeping out, one inevitably keeps in as well.
