This I found on a street in Derby. It was laid in 2000 and was installed as part of the Sustrans development of the National Cycle Network, to identify the route and help cyclists and pedestrians orientate themselves. Not sure if I felt orientated, but just curious to find out what they were about, as I can easily get lost even with a ten foot sign infront of me!!!

Apparently, it takes a village to give directions! Ann, it is a very interesting picture and your narrative is excellent in explaining it.

This gives a whole new meaning to the word "headstone". Hmmm...this one certainly gave me pause for thought and perhaps that's all the travelers needed....a point to stop and consider just where the heck they were!

So these aren't cyclists who got lost, perished in the wilderness and were buried here..... (after a cast had been taken of their faces, of course).
Whatta pic! I could make up around 10 stories with this as an illustration!

Fascinating work Ann! Immediately reminded me of Gustav Dure's plate on the 8th level of "Inferno" by Dante. Have you seen it? Your capture is amazing! Well done!
