Unity street is in the north end in Boston. The freedom trail crosses here at the gates up the street in this photo , The Old North Church can be seen from there.

This shot looks timeless. Nice job with the light.

Wonderful distance view. Terrific in the black and white tone.

Nice perspective, Tom.

And being redundant (because I can).. composition is good good, as well.

Not a criticism, per se.. more that of curiosity on my part.. the harsh lighting.

Purposeful?

It kind of, sort of.. lends itself to a narrative that your image creates in my mind.

Just curious.

And with that said..

But, of course.. thanks for sharing this one with us. :o)

I quite like these narrow, long-distance street scenes and the contrasts in lighting here too...would make a nice addition to the weekly b/w challenge as well.

You've handled the difficult lighting conditions in this one very well, Tom.
Love the atmosphere that this very fine capture exudes!

There's a European feel to this image with the narrow road and pavements. I like the vantage point you chose Tom.

Nice to see you back Les. This was a color photo , I tried to cheat. The sky was a white out and there was much more of it before the cropping. I was trying to soften it with my editing of the light and dark areas in the photo and succeeded somewhat but it was harsh to begin with , obviously. I appreciate your honest critique here Les because it gives me food for thought and will have a positive effect on future photos.

It's a good good conversion, Tom.

I love the deep blacks and gradations that you've achieved on the note of the colour(s) that must have appeared in the original.

... ...

Some more food for future thought (if unaware)..

Nicely done with great details...I like the two bicycles, the flag, and the way the road curves to the right.
