This is a Dutch Landrace Goat taken at Plymouth Plantation. Also call ed Nederlandse Landgeit, it has been in the Netherlands since the 17th century. It was brought back from the brink of extinction in the 1950s. The pilgrims sailed from there to Plymouth and brought them with them most likely. This was a color photo made into B+W.

Excellent detail capture in Mr. Nederlandse Landgeit. Looks very good, also, in black and white.

Tom, your 'Dutch Landrace' post made me curious. So I've searched in this article the reason why the pilgrims had goats on board their ships, but couldn't find the proper answer.
Fine B&W capture however.

It is definitely suited beautifully to black and white, for some reason it creates a mood that is preferable to a colored photo for me. Faved, really love this one.

Cornelius, I did not see it your link either. I did a search of goats at Plymouth Plantation, got the name of the goats there and did further research on Long haired landrace and got more info there. I am sure that they were repatriated there at some point not long ago.
