I was in the mood to give my Tierazon fractal jewel a filigree setting à la Nathan Smith. I don't have a pen tool in my creaky old version of Photoshop Elements so tried a different method, and it turned out nothing like Nathan's (as you can tell by the cheap quality of the metal in mine!) Still, it's something you might have found in an old curiosity shop, though it's more likely my imagination is working overtime.
