And this is where Tootles careers off the rails again with a random fractal, this one from Chaotica. It seems a suitable subject for the start of October. Many of us find ourselves caroming madly towards winter and obliteration, like this little sun here.

Yet it's not entirely random... the real snapshot flame is the base of both this and Shattered Peace, changed before rendering.

Post-processed in Photoshop CS5; saturation was increased and the more delicate flames brightened. During the brightening process, that big background world appeared, previously invisible.

Ok, never dawned on me before.. however, I just checked to make sure..

"Suncat"
"Hunter's Moon"

... as I thought possibly, is this the planet that was used in?

But, no.

Still..

Looks very planetary/sun-like.

With a good good dash of nebula and star clusters, et al.. thrown into the creative mix.

Nicely done.

This also reminds me of a fiery black opal from Australia - beautiful work.

Les, it's a good thought, as I was originally going to put a spacey Chaotica background in behind Hunter's Moon. Having rendered a variety of different fractals, though, I realized the two styles were incompatible. It was paint the whole thing or live with a botched job. :-)

Thanks for the kind words, everyone.
