This was taken on a gusty day of bright sunshine. See Dappled Hill.

It doesn't feel right to suggest it shows night or unremitting darkness. Not only is the sun shining in reality, at this point you've climbed to the top of the hill where a breeze swirls round your ankles and the view opens out. It's impossible not to feel some uplifting of the spirit.

To me it's a dark but optimistic image, as though you're starting to climb up out of something. You are free to come up with your own interpretation -- this is just mine. :-)

Canon 6D, Canon wide angle lens.
Cropping and manipulation in Photoshop CS5.

As I write this, a song is playing that seems to suit the mood:

Baker Street (Gerry Rafferty)

The darkness suggests emptiness yet the picture is filled with life. Dark as it is, there are trees brimming with leaves. a rolling hill covered in grass, and a human photographer, just out of view. I like your picture very much.

It's not easy to reach the top, but once there, there'll be satisfaction.
Think you have the same feeling about your creation, Sandra.
A perfect conversion into B&W!
Very apt entry for the Wednesday B&W challenge!

There is something quite magical about this image Tootles.Your interpretation makes complete sense :) The work done to perfect it has given a great result and I am delighted to add it to the BWC list - thank you!

I also like the music - that haunting tune suits the mood.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

I love it! Toots. reflects the mood of the season on a dark dreary morning before complete light...or after the day is ended.

I wonder if life stops to have a cigarette after it screws me?
