In the village of Metsovo,Greece, there is a wonderful art gallery and upon viewing this,I found it unusual at first, but then it grew on me...I now find the color, textures and stance of the mother and child to be very attractive. Thanks for comments and advice. I kind of wish we were all located in the same country and could visit each other, but then, we would not have the diverse and original works of art that is viewed on Caedes. I must admit Caedes has given me so much to look forward to, an admiration of photography and art that has expanded my love for both.

You did a superb job on this one, I hope you will enter it in the contest, it is very contest worthy! I too feel it would be nice to meet some of the others, but what a wonderful way to see the world through someone else's eye. I have actually talked to a few of my caedes friends on the phone, and actually met and have become good friends with Stylo, we live 3 hours apart. tigs=^..^=

I too have talked to some of the Caedes members Vicki. Tigz said it so well about seeing the world through other's eyes.
This is a great photo and the texture, both in the statue and the background, would make it a great entry.

Initially seemingly simple, the more I look at it the more unique and aesthetic details come out. I can fully understand your attractive to it, Vicki, it exudes such a feeling of peace and security. I like that you placed it slightly off-center, and to place the larger open area in such a way as to be in the direction she is looking. If the subject in an image has a face or direction of movement, it's a classic maneuver to give room to the direction the eyes or motion is moving. It's a quiet rule of good composition that so many people either ignore or do not know. Good work.

A very good shot of this beautiful handcrafted figure of mother and child. I like the lighting and the shadow. As others have already said there are textures here that make this figure worth considering as an entry for the contest Vicki.

Folk Art at its finest! The artist included incredible detail: from the brows, to the various patterns on the clothing, to her knitting, right down to her two little feet poking out from under her skirt.

And your photography of it is marvelous, with the angle, lighting, and capture of shadow. Exochos!

I smiled at your idea. Just yesterday, I was looking at a picture that Raj had taken at a zoo. And I thought, wouldn't it be fun if we could all go through the zoo together? Afterward, we could swap pictures and laugh at our shared experiences.

It's a nice thought! :)

I think it has all been said. I will just add that I want to touch this and feel the texture of the wood (it is wood ?). I also am amused by the child peeping over the mothers shoulder in a very inquisitive way, making sure it is in the picture :)

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust
