In the northern region of Rodopi in Greece, came across this structure. I had submitted a close up photo of this previously. This scene allows you to appreciate the full view. Well, lots of sun right?
I have to say I rather like this one a bit more than the previous "Beyond Repair" (I think it was), but only because of my years of construction experience. I've worked on projects that involved lath, chicken wire and plaster, but this style utilizing small sticks in between vertical studs is a new one on me. Even those windows are cool. if the place is ever demolished you have to go back there and snag the windows to make a great room divider. Tons of character, not to mention history. Delightful capture, Vicki.
If you've ever wanted to make a difference but found it hard to believe that one person could... check out the Kiva Team Caedes discussion thread and discover that anything is possible.
Great capture...it looks all weathered and worn and a great subject for the current contest.... I know from experience how buildings deteriorate over there..I saw a lot during my time in Corfu & Rhodes
Your photo shoes very clearly how deterioration is destroying this "building". Sharp details overall and this will make a very good entry for the contest Vicki.
I see another building off to the upper left from this one. So, maybe this one was an out-building, used to store supplies or equipment of some sort. Don't see a door so I am guessing we are looking at the back side. The roof looks to be completely gone. The glass in the windows does make it younger than my first thought when thinking of its location and relationship to histories of the region. I wish that tree could tell us what it knows of this property and of the people who lived here over time.
Your image is a nicely deteriorated structure that fits in perfectly for the current contest Vicki - the exposed parts of the building reveal what building materials were used - I do like all the elements and textures included as well as the weeds - Great Capture!!!!!!!!!
Amazing there are still some panes of glass in those windows...great find, Vicki, and would make a good contest entry...best of luck if you enter this one.
The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB
