So as we were on a walk in the forest near our home, there were many seagulls flying overhead, windy day and they were having a great time. Snapped this photo, but was aware that I don't think I am supposed to take the photo with the sun in my eyes. Really not sure how I could have done this correctly. Thanks for viewing and commenting. Appreciate it a lot.

It's a good picture, Vicki. Only thing I can think of that you could have adjusted for the sun is to have had a neutral density filter on your lens.

I think it is great as is Vicki. It gave the gulls some backlighting and made beautiful silhouettes.
The sky and clouds are fabulous.
Frank gave you good advice.

This would have been a very nice photo if you had aimed below the sun or if you copy a part of the clouds and paste over the sun Vicky.

I agree with Frank about The ND filter Vicki - I've always found those essential when shooting in sun - that being said I do think it turned out well.

Vicki, I've read the constructive advices above. They can be helpful in the next photo shoot, but there should be added a relativating comment. Your photo was taken in extreme lighting conditions. The difference in contrast between the bright sun and the silhouettes of the birds is extreme. I suppose you didn't intend to take such a picture, but that it was a spontaneous action after seeing this beautiful natural spectacle. If you had to provide the lens with an ND filter on the spot, then you probably would have missed this scene, and we would not have been able to see this beautiful photograph!
But that isn't really the point because the subject concerns 'skies' and given the above outlined circumstances this is an astonishing result.
A pleasure to view, so S+F. Thanks for sharing it, 👍 !

Like your shot Vicki - I, myself, would have cropped part or all of the sun in your image - the birds and clouds would still show nicely!!!

I love this composition, the shades and arrangements of the clouds, the birds flying in different directions, with the brilliance of the sun...quite a shot!
