We had seven days well below freezing which is very unusual for southeast Louisiana in the lower part of the United States. The pond in the Park was frozen over for three days and the waterfowl could not understand why. This beautiful swan was determined to get through the ice and crisscrossed the pond breaking the ice. Our local CBS affiliate in New Orleans used this photo during the weather segment to show how cold it is and to encourage people to feed the wildlife. I don't understand the C-index and I never will.

It looks determined Colleen. It does looks like a ice breaker as it floats along. The reflections add a lot to this shot. Clarity top notch. Excellent post.

That's one way to break the ice! Hope that these guys can find food.

So beautiful...and graceful even while breaking the ice. I love the reflection on the sheet of ice.
