Hey Mars,
the super close and non-traditional cropping is an entirely legit path to seeing something in a new way. In this case the dof/focus gives no clear place for the eye to fall as the "centre" of the image. Perhaps that was deliberate but it reduced the impact of the image for me. You did a good job of having a background that allowed the orange to really stand out.

The colors are pleasant but the focus could be sharper. The blurred greenery makes a nice background.

I like the in your face take on this as it totally works!! A wee post work could enhance the color contrast and clean up some of the grain which exudes. Luv the orange / green color combo kickin'!! Keep'em coming as we always wanna see more!!
