Yeah, i agree with beowolf... but i guess there is no other SAFE way to get one of these pcitures with out being in a plane. (of course you could have jumped, but i guess that wouldn't be safe =)
lol wicked awesome shot but i wish the "Stewardis <spelling?> would clean the windows a bit better and same with the guys with the ear muffs but hey! wicked picture anyway
It doesn't matter how you spelled "stewardess", you have to be politically correct now and say "flight attendant". :-p Annnyway, This is a great pic! Clouds above and clouds below, the sun is floating around in the middle.. This becomes one of my favorites.
Beowolf -
Jumping and landing with a camera (either still image or video) is quite easy. Most skydiving camera flyers mount their equipment on their helmets. Standard setup is stills plus video. Now-a-days it isn't as physically demanding because video cameras are getting very small. Take a second to image what it was like back in the 80's when we had 10Kgs straped to our heads! Today the SLR is often larger than the video camera. If you are just messing around, you can take a handheld stills camera up, take some snaps and then stuff it into your jumpsuit prior to canopy deployment. Just make sure you don't drop it.
The clouds in the picture could definately be at a jumpable height. You can go up to 14,000' without any oxygen assistance, higher with an oxygen supply. Highest jump ever was from above 100,000'.
Damn. This is the essence of sky photography. It's too bad it couldn't be a little more sharp (I'm not complaining, though, it's wonderful, and in my favorites!)
just came back from a vacation with my mom where we flew to Nashville to see a relative I havent seen in 15 years. On the way there it was perfect all the way. I just wish I had had a quality camera to take pic - especially on the way in landing the rolling green hill were wonderful and breath taking. Wonderful!!
I know this now. Every man gives his life for what he believes. Every woman gives her life for what she believes. Sometimes people believe in little or nothing yet they give their lives to that little or nothing. One life is all we have and we live it as we believe in living it. And then it is gone. But to sacrifice what you are and live without belief, that's more terrible than dying.

a bit fussy at 1280x1024. let me know if you have it clearer i would love to have this as my background but my 20" monitor really brings out the grainy side.
Its soo awesome and perfect name too. I disagree with bewolf about the window i mean yes it does take away from the clarity but sometimes it gives it a cool effect. Great job though I if I took that picture i would be soo proud of myself.
I downloaded this picture when I first joined Cædes but I had to come back and comment on this wonderful picture. I can't get enough of it. 10 all the way.
Appropriate title for this picture that can be viewed two way,(1) as it, or (2) run it through an editing program, up the color in it and you have a whole different viewpoint/ Pretty either way.

great image. i guess you can say you had your head above the clouds. well glad you did or we would not have been given the chance to see such beauty as this.
It's too bad you were inside the plane (I mean this from an artistic standpoint ;-) because the window diminishes the clarity of the view...
