You're perspective and cropping really heighten the curves. Quite a bit like M.C. Escher in some areas. Great photo, great contest entry!

I can't believe I didn't comment on this because I've looked at it so many times. I think it's masterful, the blue light sets off a whole load of textures and it has a lovely 'feel' to it. I'm glad you got to the finals with this one too.
