This is from the Mammoth area in the NW corner of Yellowstone. It was originally shot on film (before Minerva went dormant).

great image. looks very good with the fairly low angle of sun, casting shadows across the ridges/rocks/deposits/sediment - whatever it is.. :-)

Man, talk about DOF!! This is a well composed, nicely focused shot...makes me feel like I could step right into the frame and go for a hike. Very well done!

What a privilege it must be to photograph Yellowstone. I like the perspective here a lot, with the irregular shapes and layers - it gets across a sense of the landscape moving towards you. Beautifully lit and with a dramatic sky too Alan, this is very accomplished.
