But words are things, and a small drop of ink, falling, like dew, upon a thought produces that which makes thousands, perhaps millions think and smile. Art is everywhere, except it has to pass through a creative mind.

I got one of these in an exotic flower arrangement one time. I hung it upside down and it dried perfectly. I still don't know what it is but, it's one of the strangest flowers(?) I've seen. It's larger than you think too. Nice shot of it.

I wonder how I can mimic an Australian garden here in NC? You have the most interesting floral displays there. I want, I want! lol This is again a terrific shot and impressive against the background.

Excellent clarity Al. Looks like an insectivorous plant of some sort. Wonderful capture:-)

Great color and textural quality. Another weird alien-looking plant. Seems like Oz is chock full of beautiful, fascinating flora. Thanks for showing me something different.

Wonderful shot and so clear, it looks like a protea to me. Actually grown a lot here in Australia, it is a native of South Africa (similar climate). There are a lot of simliar Australian natives as well like the grevillea or bottlebrush. See Australian National Botanical Gardens

Hi Al;
It's been a long time since I've commented on one of your images and I'm sorry about that. I logged on to Caedes tonight and what should greet my eyes, well this image of course. It was in the top row of the six images on the Home Page. I like the idea of having those older images up there. It gives everyone a chance to see an image they may have missed the first go around and so it was with this one. It is absolutely gorgeous and it gets a 10 and goes right to my desktop.
What kind of plant is it, if you don't mind me asking?

The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed.

It is one of the types of Protea. In Australia, there are several types quite different to each other, but all as striking as this one.
