An interrupted shot I decided to use anyway. Something spooked them seconds before I hit the shutter. I seldom see these with the other gulls/terns so I am unsure if they were just visiting or normally stay more to the islands and came in for the stormy squally weather we had. Another grey windy day had them lined up in formation. It was fun to watch them return filling in the rolls one by one. Since that day I haven't seen them there. Bird info: The remarkable bill of the Black Skimmer is sets it apart from all other American birds. The large red and black bill is knife-thin and the lower mandible is longer than the upper. The bird drags the lower bill through the water as it flies along, hoping to catch small fish.
Tick* was here
I've never seen so many at one time.
Thanks for sharing Elizabeth.
