Rode to Bayou Heron, no herons but I found these guys wading in the flooded marshy shore. I think it may be a Willet.

What an interesting bird and a great capture! Lots of detail and natural colors. The light on the water ripples is fabulous! :)Ami

I really admire your bird shots, I tried to get a photo of a bird on vacation and it wasn't good at all. Great work!

So good Elizabeth. I think EJ is right about you taking the photo for the book. I googled to see what it was. It says the male and female look alike but the female is somewhat larger. Guess this is the male looking for supper. Great shot.

I suppose you cannot willet to be a heron! But, with your will, you captured with great detail, another exotic for our eyes to feast.

I never heard of a willet. This is the last time I can say that, though. LOL. Excellent close up of that fine looking bird.

What a pretty bird! Wrong time of the year to be an immature bird. I like the way the bird and the water match in color and pattern!

So cool, your dof isolates the bird nicely from the water in the background but also allows us to see how the birds colouring serves as camouflage on that same water. Lovely and sharp AND your subject is off centred for balance. Sweet wildlife shot Elizabeth!
