Found two Great Blue Herons patiently waiting by a fisherman for scraps. Turned my head three more strategically placed, were watching nearby in the dunes.

The sand looked like snow on the thumb.Nice comp!.I like the detail you captured in the Heron and the piece of driftwood in back adds some nice depth.

I like the looks of the heron on that sand, with the blue water at the top. Very well composed, too.

The color in this bird is outstanding. Very good background as well! Perhaps removal of the log?

He's sharp, the background is nicely soft, he stands out great. It's a strong call you've made comp wise but I think it works, all the beach to the left gives a sense of space and place, context.

Now you have a Heron with an attitude....But you have sure captured this oh so well. Beautiful work and I love that you have given him space to "look" and for the viewer to "look" with him. Great post.

There's something truly amazing about this shot. Perhaps it's the sliver of blue sea in the background just complimenting the bird.

I can't quite get my mind wrapped around it yet, so I'll just save it for my desktop and study it for a while!

Great lighting and detail on this capture Elizabeth.I see them along the mill race near where I work but they always see me before I can get close enough for a good shot.

I like the way the composition becomes more than the bird.
Your framing and lines add another dimesion to a good photo
of a heron. It is like the millions of flower shots we see.
There are pictures of flowers and then there are compostions
of flowers. It is all about the thought going into the image.

Great image. 76 c-index should be 'even' higher. Great colour saturation and depth of field make it a wonderfully luminescent and sharp image. Really good effort!!!

Really great capture. The layer of blue at the top of the image is a nice addition and just the right height.
