I have been watching a group of Yellow-crowned Night Herons for a long while now. Finally got a closer view of a few juveniles that were not in too much sun. Downside, not a lot of light either, so I tried to bring him out some. Not crazy about the grassy background but when they fly to the trees, even less details in the shade...

Nice capture....Don't worry abou the grass...it adds to the contrast and brings out this special Heron even more so.

If the grass doesn't bother the heron, it won't bother us Elizabeth. You have to take your shot when you get it. That's one of life's rules. I like the contrast anyway. I see it has that stringly patch of hair starting. Weird that it starts out white.
