Obviously I am not experienced trying to photograph through water. A lot of fun watching and attempting to capture the many jellyfish floating by at the same docks on the bayou. I tried to highlight the details more, but that added more noise. I thought it was still recognizable.

Capturing a subject in or through water is never easy. A lot has to do with the clarity of the water & I think this jellyfish was stirring things up a bit. As mentioned before the jellyfish is slightly out of focus, but I'm definitely enjoying the movement you captured as well as the contrasting colors. Nicely done Elizabeth.

It is something to see for those of us that don't get a chance E~. I really like the color of the water in this one. It also reminds me of a hot air balloon that is coming apart at the seams.
Nice post.

You have a shot that I never would have attempted. I would have screwed it up big time. You did a good job with it. Very nice.

A shot definitely worth sharing for the interest factor. I don't think I've ever seen a live one, just the dead ones washed up on the shore. Good job!

Gosh!, I think you did a fine job with this capture. I didn't realize there was that much color to them. Guess the color of the water brings out the jellyfishes color also.Nice!!!!

I think he must be really hard to photograph because of the transparent bits of his body and that everything is in a lot of motion. Maybe a really fast shutter plus an external flash could slow him down a bit. Nice try, and he is beautiful just as he is!

Such a pretty one it is too. Glass is often times a definite problem, but you got this clear enough for us to see the distinguishing features and he does indeed look like a hot air balloon.

It´s a very good shot of the jellyfish with great details even if it is a little out of focus. Is it true like Verena says, that these are deadly poisonous? If they are I am glad they are not in the waters where I go swimming :-)

I love all your photo and always say I wish I was there, but after seeing this guy, I would never go in the water down there! lol We have some jellyfish in Aug. up here but for the most part they are small one. I think you did a great job, give that it wasn't the best of circumstances.

We have some really nasty Jellyfish over here in Australia. I live in North Queensland where the deadly ones come from. I was stung by a box jell on New Years Day in 1973 as a 8 year old. Still remember it today! I was one of the lucky ones. The ambulance man saved my life, as on the way to the hospital my heart stoped. So these days I try to stay out of the sea. Thanks for sharing your photo. Lyn.

Ain't it interesting how each new environment we encounter challenges us to learn new photographic skills and approaches. I think the detail and colour is pretty good Elizabeth, it's certainly an impressive jellyfish.
