Also found at Bennett Bayou, I was very surprised to see this little guy hop onto a branch along the marsh. Unfortunately it only gave me one shot. I also saw several Rails but they were behind too many reeds/grasses. I think this one is a Least Bittern .

I wonder if the National Audubon Society is aware of you, yet? You have been posting many wonderful pictures of our feathered friends. This one included!

I never heard of that bird, but it's a purdy little thing. Excellent capture, E. Good lighting and colors. Nice framing, too.

Be thankful when you don't know something, for it gives you the opportunity to learn.

Beautiful post again Elizabeth. Think this bird has a good life compared to its colleagues on the other side of the big pond. The birds in my part of the world have a hard time now, because they can't find hardly any food because of the severe snow and frost.
Regards, Cornelius.

You sure have some interesting birds in your bayou E~. I have never heard of this one, but I like the way it looks. At first I thought it was Least Bitten the better. I had to agree.

I am sure that you worked hard for this one.
I am enjoying the differences between your Green

I'm amazed at how his neck and chest feathers seem to be glowing, and I know it's not from fill flash from your camera because the flash would have registered on the shadows on the stems in front of his face. Another nice bird shot, Elizabeth. Between you and our Dutch friend, Gerritsen, we have access to a fine digital book of birds.
