Taken the same day as the Reddish Egret, the tide pool was especially active. When I arrived there were only a few birds. I inched my way slowly around it, keeping a wide berth so I wouldn't disturb them. Even though there was a lot of rain in March, by the end of April there was an unusually dry period. I was very concerned to see the popular feeding area shrinking drastically. Slowly I inched my way closer eventually there were eight Great Blues a Tri-colored Heron, a Reddish Egret and numerous Gulls, Plovers etc... It was interesting to watch the group interact. The smaller Tri-colored seemed unaffected by the larger birds going about his fishing around and in between what was turning into a large group. Often the Great Blues would posture and balk at each other seemingly fussing over their positions. Feathers ruffled and several would be run off and slowly return. All the while they didn't appear to have a problem with the smaller egret and heron often following them it seemed to find fish.
